WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR: The VP of Culture will be directly responsible for overseeing all aspects of the culture department for Brooklyn Boulders. This role will be instrumental in helping Brooklyn Boulders build upon the strong cultural values it has already established. Working on the executive team and reporting directly to the CEO, this individual will be responsible for cultivating a high performance environment where talented people love coming to work. This includes creating and driving cultural initiatives that promote consistent and effective hiring practices, advancement opportunities for our employees, strong retention of high performers, and high engagement of our team members. Key to this position will be the development and management of a highly effective performance management strategy, including the continual creation and tracking of objectives and key results. Also, key to this position will be developing a competitive company-wide compensation strategy that will attract and motivate top-level talent. This role will be responsible for a growing department that currently includes the Director of People, Learning and Development Manager, and three People and Culture Generalists.. It's time to get weird with Brooklyn Boulders.. YOU WILL: Drive, shepard, and foster the overall BKB culture (i.e. creating conditions suitable for growth according to our values). Create and drive strategies and programs that improve employee engagement, productivity, and organizational effectiveness Develop staffing strategies and programs to identify, recruit, develop, and retain talent inside and outside the organization Create succession planning tools that enable Brooklyn Boulders to prepare for its rapid expansion Develop, implement, and own company-wide training programs and tools including a learning management system. This includes owning all training standards and guidelines. Develop progressive and proactive compensation and benefits programs to provide motivation, incentives, and rewards for effective performance Develop appropriate policies and programs for effective management of the people resources of the organization Ensure recruiting and development practices allow the organization to embrace applicants and employees of all backgrounds and permit the full performance of all employees Create and implement performance management strategy which includes performance evaluations, goal tracking (OKR's), and continual feedback loops. Create employee morale and incentive programs that continually motivate our employees Direct and evaluate the organization's culture department. Participate in the development of the organization's 5-year and 10-year roadmap as a strategic partner, particularly from the perspective of the impact on the organizations' people operations Continually assess the competitiveness of all culture related programs and practices against relevant comparable companies, industries and markets Successfully develop and manage a team that can foster culture throughout the organization Ensure legal and regulatory compliance in all employment related aspects of the organization Utilize our human resource information system database, and other avenues, to establish the necessary reports for critical analyses of the culture function and the people resources of the organization Manage the Culture budget and other financial measures of the culture department. YOU HAVE: 10+ years of related experience 8+ years of proven success leading a people/talent/or operations function 4+ years of successfully creating and implementing change initiatives that affect large groups of employees (inside and/or outside BKB) BA, MA, or MBA in business, organizational development, or human resources preferred. Experience creating and implementing company-wide training programs. Experience with LMS management systems is preferred. Demonstrated ability to work with and inspire a broad range of individuals to work toward a common goal. Must have a track record of establishing procedures, implementing key people initiatives, and executing processes. Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal, including a strong ability to distill large financial and operational data sets and to craft strategic narratives. Must be able to connect work to the \"big picture\" brand and business goals. Strong judgment, problem-solving and analytical skills. Demonstrated track record of professional achievement. Ability to cultivate and maintain positive relationships with high-level internal customers. Must be able to perform under pressure, short deadlines and in high visibility settings. Ability to work cross functionally at all levels of the organization and to manage and prioritize multiple tasks on very tight deadlines. Strong project management, strategic communications and cross collaboration/influencing skills. Entrepreneurial orientation, client-service mentality and sensitivity in working across cultures are required.
