Charles E. Smith Life Communities (CESLC) is one of the largest and most highly regarded nonprofit elder care organizations in the nation. Originally founded in 1910 as the Hebrew Home for the Aged, CESLC now serves 1,100 older adults daily in multiple residences situated on its beautiful 38-acre campus in Rockville, Maryland. 
We are searching for a talented Development Assistant to join our Development Team! This role is primarily responsible for gift processing and acknowledgement. Other responsibilities of the role include gift processing and reporting, database maintenance and accuracy, on-line gift solicitation and processing, office administrative assistance, e-mail mass communications, incoming and outgoing mail support, donor stewardship, and event support as needed.   
 Job responsibilities:
•       Gift entry and donor acknowledgement processing and preparation of financial reconciliation reports for the Office of Accounting as needed.
•       Database administration, including but not limited to updates and additions to the Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge (RE) database, gift and prospect data fields, daily gift downloads from website and related updates to database as well as optional data fields used for prospect research and prospect management; production of associated reports.
•       Create and maintain mailing lists, queries, exports and reports using RE.
Support of donor engagement and stewardship communications and events, support of online fundraising campaigns, assist with writing donor and leadership prospect profiles.
•        Assistance with fundraising and other public relations events, including but not limited to creation and preparation of invitation lists, e-vite design, event registration, program collaterals, and on-site assistance at events.
Experience in non-profit fundraising operations. 
Must have working knowledge and experience using Raiser’s Edge Fundraising; preferably NXT version. 
Must be able to demonstrate experience with gift entry, record updating, building queries and exports, working with reports and understanding of prospect research
Direct experience in database administration, financial management, or customer relations and providing administrative support.  
Excellent customer service orientation.
Demonstrated written and oral communication skills in the English language – ease in writing letters to constituents, communicating pleasantly and effectively with colleagues, preparing grammatically correct, compelling content for internal and external communications and publications.
Extraordinary attention to detail in rekeying of names, addresses and numbers.
The ability to work in what can be a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
Fluency in MS Word.
