Mission/Role This position will work under the direction of the Chief Creative Officer and VP, Women's Footwear Design on the vision, story and creation of industry leading seasonal concepts, materials, colors and applications for lifestyle products across footwear, outerwear, bags and accessories. This individual will be at the forefront in the creation of industry leading seasonal product which will be informed by expertise and knowledge of women's dress, casual, sport and outdoor product informed by popular culture including, style, sport and fashion trends, art and music.
CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES: In partnership with Cole Haan Creative Leadership deliver seasonal brand thematics for color, materials, concept and trend in alignment with the Cole Haan first best female customer. Partner with Creative Leadership, Merchandising and external creative services to build and deliver cohesive seasonal vision across trend, color, material and concept for women's product. Act as the lead resource for women's design and merchandising on informing on seasonal global macro-trends regarding color, materials and concept. Lead the strategic application of color and material on footwear and lifestyle products. Drive seasonal inspirational and aspirational material stories, treatments, prints, graphics and applications for leather, textiles, non-leather & knits in partnership with VP, Women's Footwear Design and Chief Creative Officer. Distill all color research in partnership with cross functional partners and external creative services into a distinct and coherent point of view for the brand across all product categories. Partner with creative team to deliver strategic seasonal color stories per product delivery and flow. Partner with the men's design team on trend to drive brand concept presentations for internal and external presentations. Partner with external creative services, creative seminars, print shows and workshops to inform and align on seasonal concepts and trend. Special projects as assigned.
Requirements Bachelor's Degree in Design or related area Minimum of 8 years' relevant experience in footwear and accessories design with color, material, concepts and trend Strong experience in concept creation, materials (leather and non-leather), print, color strategy and trend Excellent knowledge of fashion and market trends with an understanding of Cole Haan product aesthetic, image and quality Must be able to travel both domestically and internationally; including frequent travel between New York and New Hampshire Must have a high degree of proficiency with Digital Design Platforms (InDesign and Illustrator) and hand sketching ability Working knowledge of Macintosh systems, Microsoft Office, Outlook, and PLM Ability to work under deadlines, manage multiple priorities, work independently, take initiative, and pay close attention to detail Enthusiastic about design, inspiring, creative, forward-thinking and energetic Organized, structured, and pushes oneself to exceed expectations Adaptable versatile, and able to work under pressure to tight deadlines and able to multi-task Fluent in English with excellent verbal and written communication skills
