This position requires a person with strong background and interest in plant breeding/genetics, and a desire to work on both applied and molecular approaches. This individual will join a national team working to apply the latest in molecular mapping technology to locate genes of greatest interest in public grapevine breeding programs. Responsibilities will include aspects of phenotyping important traits in Cornell University grape breeding populations. Individual will also have responsibility for coordinating and managing a complex, national project.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. degree required, in Horticulture, Genetics, Plant Breeding, Plant Biology, Plant Pathology and/or related disciplines. Must possess and maintain a valid U.S. drivers license.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills. Well-versed in spreadsheet, word processing, and database software.
  • Plant breeding and genetics training.
  • Maturity and initiative are desirable, however, applicants with doctorate degrees (with or without postdoctoral experience) will be considered. Preference will be given to those already showing outstanding leadership and organizational skills.
