The Purpose of Your Role

This role is for a hands-on developer/engineer with automation experience in the domain of network infrastructure. As a Senior Network Engineer, you will research, define, document and promote technical directions as well as high-level designs. You will be responsible for the automation of manual activities performed by network engineers such as network changes, validation, configuration management, as well as building integrations with 3rd party tools and APIs with an overall goal to improve stability of the network, to reduce the number of human-related errors, and to free network engineers to work on higher level activities.

The position requires a solid background in tools and automation, linux/unix, shell scripting, Python, and a deep understanding of leading and emerging IT concepts.

The Skills You Bring

4-6 years Software Development / Automation experience

Python, GoLang, strongly desired

Ansible Tower or AWX

Nice to have knowledge in SDLC

Nice to have knowledge in Agile methodologies (SCRUM or Kanban)

Project Management skills

SCRUM Master certification a plus

Knowledge in ITIL v3

Knowledge of TCP/IP, including application knowledge

Network Engineering skills in routers/switches, proxies or firewalls

Application Traffic Analysis a plus

Cloud provider experience a plus (Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure)

Enterprise Security Policy knowledge and standard methodologies

Knowledge of audit process

Linux/Unix skills

Load Balancing understanding such as F5

TCP/IP knowledge a plus

Network knowledge such as routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, MPLS)

Packet capture and analysis a plus

Verbal and written presentation skills

Ability to work in a team environment

Network Certifications a plus but not required

Network Security knowledge: Firewall, IPS/IDS, Webfiltering, etc.

Managed File Transfer, FTP, SFTP, etc

The Value You Deliver

Development of tactical tools and automation solutions for the Global Network Services organization which is responsible for Fidelitys data, and Internet infrastructure

Evaluate and provide technical solutions to complex network infrastructure automation projects while collaborating with a peer automation team responsible for building a strategic/complex network API as part of an internal cloud initiative

Design, Manage and Maintain highly complex network environments

Work effectively with peers on best practices, design, and implementation while participating in a small agile development team

Work closely with the network engineers to translate automation requirements into robust and deeply tested solutions

Strive to provide mentorship to other team members and support automation throughout the organization

Support Internet/Extranet Engineering through use of Firewalls, IDS/IPS, various proxy gateway and other network security devices to provide defense-in-depth protection from cyber security threats

Network Change Implementation

Implement code upgrade/hot fix from vendor

Change verification/validation with customer

Assist in troubleshooting and solving issues related to change (Oncall rotation)

Documentation of complex technologies and topologies

Vendor management for all network platforms

Global Network Services is dedicated to the overall global network engineering and support for Fidelity Investments within Enterprise Infrastructure. The Engineering position will be a DevOps model role that has very strong programming and automation skills with a very deep understanding of network principles, platforms and protocols. You will be on an engineering team responsible for the automation and support of network and security platforms such as Firewalls, DNS, Application Traffic Management, Managed File Transfer, Proxy Firewalls, Routing and Switching, etc
