This position is the key technical resource within the Systems Manufacturing Team to provide support for new product development and ongoing production, will be responsible for ensuring that the new product designs meet the requirements for efficient, cost effective and manufacturability. This position needs to partner with US and Global design and development teams.
Your Key Responsibilities Would Include: As product owner, be responsible for NPI and will work closely with design and operation team on optical line card development Review design specification and ensure designs (optical, electrical and mechanical) to meet the requirements for the efficient, cost effective, manufacturability, rework-ability and high quality. Key member of cross-functional product development team Review product test plans, methodology, specifications and MFG process flow Responsible for resolving optical engineering issues for released products Drive the implementation of ECR/ECO based on the design/product changes Partner with contract manufacturers for yield/process improvements Work with optical component engineering on quality and cost reduction opportunities, define and drive the cost reduction initiatives Key member of defect reduction team Be able to work independently and prioritize tasks on a scheduled basis Drive root cause analysis and correction or/and preventive actions for field failures as needed Periodic oversea travel required per project timeline
Education & Experience Necessary for Success: BSEE/Physics required, MS/PhD (Electrical Engineering, Physics, and Optics) degree preferred Working knowledge of active and passive optical components and modules
Ability to travel is required as there will be 30 to 40% travel both domestically and internationally
3+ years of direct experience with fiber optical components/modules/systems, both linear and nonlinear impairments in optical transmission systems. 3+ years of hands-on experience with high-speed optical and electrical test and measurement equipment, control, data acquisition and testing automation Direct experience with products utilizing embedded processors, Ethernet/PCIe switches, FPGAs, DSP and power sequencing. Requires a strong understanding of change controls and process flow. Optical amplifiers (EDFA and Raman amplifier) experience a plus Experience with advanced modulation formats, direct detection and coherent systems (e.g., OOK, PAM-4, QPSK, x-QAM) and DSP for compensating the system impairments preferred. Programming/scripting skills in one or more of the following: Visual Studio.NET, Python, TTL, Microsoft SQL DB preferred. Proficient with statistical analysis Excellent verbal and written communication skills required The ideal candidate is analytic, detail-oriented, with great quantitative analysis skills, self-motivated, a great team player, able to pro-actively communicate with x-functional team and work well in a fast-paced environment. Requires a cooperative team-balanced perspective for appropriate output and task outcomes. ODM/JDM experience preferred
