Position Overview
As a Senior Credit Analyst on the Healthcare Lending Team at Lakeland Bank you will support the Loan Officers. Support loan officers and respond to customers (internal and external) questions in the lender's absence. You will independently, effectively and comprehensively research, analyze and underwrite loans specifically for the healthcare and not-for-profit industries. Loan types include refinance, mortgages, construction and renovation loans, as well as term loans, lines of credit, asset-based, and equipment finance, incorporating bank policy and federal regulations into each analysis. The CA will prepare loan presentations for loan officers to present to the Chief Loan Officer, Senior and Executive Loan Committees, and periodically present loan requests to the appropriate committee. Presentations require independent industry, economic and company research, financial statement spreads, construction funding, pro-forma and cash flow analysis and rental economics. The Credit Analyst will also have the opportunity to manage smaller loan relationships.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide support to the Healthcare Lending Team with the expectation of increasing and managing a commercial loan portfolio
- Independently, effectively and comprehensively research, analyze and underwrite loans specifically for the healthcare and not-for-profit industries. Types of loans include CRE purchase, refinance, mortgages, construction and renovation loans, as well as term loans, lines of credit, asset-based, and equipment finance, incorporating bank policy and federal regulations into each analysis
- Calculate and analyze figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, ratios, commissions and percentages
- Understand and effectively convey the level of risk associated with each loan transaction and propose mitigates, if any
- Present loan requests to senior management and loan committees.
- Orders appropriate credit reports and searches
- Prepare commitment letters, order and review loan documentation for closing
- Directly and effectively communicate with customers and professionals, diplomatically expressing an opposing opinion and asking questions as required
- Understand customer relationships in order to be able to respond to the customer, an employee or other professional in the absence of the loan officer
- Follow-up on past due loans and clearing exception items
- Effectively communicate information and respond to questions in one-on-one and small group situations with professionals, regulators and internal employees of the organization
- Monitor and recommend advances on construction loans and line of credit requests as required
- Assist loan officers with portfolio management, including loans that are maturing or past due, loan modifications, tracking items, overdrafts and information requests
- Accompany loan officers on customer calls, preparing prior to the call and updating lender on account and loan status, asking pertinent questions during the meeting, taking extensive notes for call memo preparation and following up with the customer, inspectors, accountant and other professionals regarding required documentation or questions.
- Prepare reports for the Team Leader, Relationship Managers, and Senior Management
- Manage customer data using Baker Hill software
- Manage loan maturity list for timely renewal
- Independent completion of special projects as assigned

Requirements
Skills Required
- Business Degree from an accredited four-year college, with accounting or finance courses of a minimum 9 credits.
- Minimum 3 years experience working in a financial environment analyzing business and personal financial statements and tax returns; preparation of cash flows, rental economics, and researching economic data and a variety of resources to determine overall financial strength and future viability of the relationship being analyzed. This should include compiling the researched data into a comprehensive analysis for rendering decisions

- Experience and ability to work in a financial spreading system equivalent to Baker Hill
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of customer data and operations
- Excellent, effective verbal and written communication skills
- Advanced level accounting skills
- Intermediate skill level with database, presentation/PowerPoint, Excel, Word
Preferred Qualifications
- Fully RMA credit trained or equivalent training
- K knowledge of tax exempt financing
- Minimum of 5 years of experience working in a financial environment analyzing businesses such as acute care medical centers and hospitals, long-term care facilities, ambulatory surgery centers, small to large medical groups including specialty medical practices, hospice providers, Federally Qualified Health Centers and not-for-profits including human service related providers
