OVERALL SUMMARY - POSITION DESCRIPTION The Group Director, Digital role is to provide media leadership on digital strategies and priorities for multiple businesses/brands. The Group Director, Digital sets the working style for the Digital team, leads the strategic direction and is tasked with being a marketing partner for activation teams. The individual in this role must demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of all aspects of digital planning as well as the overall technology/competitive landscape. The Group Director, Digital is responsible for cultivating team relationships, ensuring that investment is channeled in the most appropriate way, teams are adhering to established processes and work product reflects best practices, cross team learning and is designed to deliver measurable results The Group Director's role is also one of agency leadership. The individual in this position is responsible for contributing to agency and department initiatives, media operations, and new business efforts. KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY Media Activation and Execution: o Directors through Assistants o Accountable for digital plan output, accuracy, and overall excellence o Actively provide and discuss industry information on media, markets and related dynamics o Responsible for ensuring that all budgets and campaign plans are aligned with Carat priorities o Understand and share new techniques and technologies that may be relevant for clients' digital media strategies Internal Relationships: o May participate in the creation and negotiation of yearly client contracts and supplemental proposals o Monitor the manpower utilization and SOWs o Consult with Client Planning teams to build and maintain trusting, collaborative relationships o Accurately represent the agency's point of view when reviewing work, leverage this perspective when providing feedback to team o Ensure collaboration among all agency disciplines; foster great teamwork o Grow business opportunities within current clients, where appropriate o Actively represent Carat within industry (attending industry functions, joining local market committees) o Participate and present in New Business efforts and presentations, when appropriate Strategic Thinking & Leadership: o Lead overarching digital strategic thinking, ensure media strategy is aligned with broader media strategy and with client objectives o Demonstrate strong analytical and strategic skills to help solve business problems o Develop and maintain digital planning processes and procedures across team o Implement efficient and effective solutions to complex problems o Ensure key information is provided to team regarding client issues, internal agency issues, organizational, etc. o Manage assigned groups' staffing needs (hiring, promotions, performance) o Manage staff utilization o Train, motivate and develop assigned staff o Construct and deliver accurate, honest and timely performance management documents Communications Skills: o Encourage open, ongoing internal communication o Establish and maintain communications process with clients, offline media teams, creative, etc. for each piece of business within the team o Direct the development of client presentations and other important communication, communication that is clear, compelling and persuasive o Lead client presentations o Communicate key information about our company o Adapts communication style to relevant audience o Links communication to audience's concerns and perspectives o Moves audience to desired action through clear and persuasive delivery of information EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED: o Bachelor's Degree o 15 + years of media planning experience, which include progressive client management experience o Extensive digital knowledge and experience, including current landscape, trends, innovations, strategic plan development o Unparalleled client service professionalism, maturity, and diplomacy o Strong understanding of client's business environment and agency services business models o Proven leadership ability - experience managing multiple groups of planners, supervisors and directors o Proven ability to think strategically, with a balanced analytical and creative approach, and the ability to teach others to think strategically o Research savvy o Ability to generate big ideas with strong motivational skills that can apply to all staff levels o Collaborative and able to successfully bring people from different disciplines, internally and externally, together to achieve desired outcomes o High-level proficiency in MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel and OutlookSalary Range: NAMinimum Qualification15+ years
