Job Description

  • 30% Instructional Design
    • Design and develop effective, engaging, authentic/applied learning experiences leveraging sound learning science and instructional design principles
    • Perform instructional needs analysis
    • Collaborate with SMEs and other stakeholders on course/program development
    • Develop course and program competency mapping
    • Develop and iterate on course prototypes (i.e., learning experiences in multiple modalities including digital and face-to-face)
    • Research, curate, and/or clear rights to open, free, and/or licensed content and media
    • Apply principles of accessibility and universal design to curriculum development
    • Design and develop outcomes-based, authentic assessments
    • Review existing courses and perform maintenance as needed, based on analysis of results of course evaluations and data gathered from real learner experiences
  • 30% Educational Technology Implementation
    • Develop course modules and materials using modern ed tech tools, including LMSs, content management systems, etc.
    • Review and edit course materials within the LMS
    • Collect data and create reports based on information in the LMS, content management system, and/or other educational technology platforms/software
    • Collaborate with project team using various online tools
  • 30% Project Management
    • Plan and execute course development timelines and milestones
    • Manage vendors in course development activities
    • Track revenue, invoices, and expenses related to course projects
    • Ensure timely delivery of completed course materials
    • Facilitate course project meetings as needed
    • Maintain course project records, meeting minutes, etc.
    • Provide project updates to stakeholders
    • Support the end-to-end learning events as necessary, from planning to delivery of certificate proving CEUs
  • 10% Team Lead
    • Act as on-site, team lead of the LX team and ensure LX staffers are staying on task
    • Various special projects, by department needs (e.g., review of F2F course materials, IACET compliance)
    • Coordinate training and mentor peers
    • Develop templates and document procedures
    • Establish best practices
    • Maintain and keep current a knowledge warehouse of cutting edge instructional design strategies and education technology tools
  • Other projects as assigned
    • Any other duties of projects that may be assigned by Manger, Learning Experience
  • Master's degree or equivalent additional experience in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Learning Science, or a closely related field
  • At least five years' experience of successful eLearning course and program development and implementation
  • High level of comfort working with engineering SMEs and complicated, technical concepts and processes
  • Familiarity with multiple instructional design approaches
  • Experience writing competencies and developing curriculum and assessment for competency-based education
  • Strong understanding of the needs of adult/professional learners
  • Experience with 508 compliance and WCAG
  • Familiarity with agile project management
  • Demonstrated ability with rapid prototyping, beta testing, and peer reviews
  • Eye for good UX/UI
  • Ability to lead meetings effectively and track and follow up on action items
  • Experience leading a team
  • Experience with Design Thinking methodology and data-driven decision making
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to convey complex technical information and processes with clarity in multiple modalities (written, visual, etc.)
  • Knowledge of various virtual classroom applications, graphic tools, and other Web authoring software
  • Proficiency with MS Office, especially PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook
  • Familiarity with multiple LMSs/CMSs with strong experience in at least one modern LMS
  • Portfolio demonstrating mastery of Articulate tools (Storyline, Rise, etc.)
