Position Summary

The Programmer/Analyst is responsible for the maintenance, support, and enhancement of the Colleges Banner information systems and other ancillary systems and software products.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Provide support and consulting services for one or more complex systems.

Establish specifications for use in developing new applications or modifying existing programs and job streams.

Develop and modify applications, programs, scripts and job streams according to department standards.

Troubleshoot application problems and failures and collaborate with functional users and vendors to find and implement resolutions.

Consult with users to identify and analyze business needs and recommend new programs or changes to business practices to satisfy requirements.

Participate in projects that support the implementation of college wide information systems in collaboration with functional users.

Develop and modify technical documentation to support application maintenance, operations and end-users.

Develop and maintain system interfaces in collaboration with functional users and IT colleagues.

Keep up with changes and maintain proficiency in skills related to relational database management systems, programming languages and techniques, PL/ SQL programming, reporting and analysis tools and vendor supplied information systems for higher education.

Respond to technical emergencies outside of normal working hours as needed.

Additional responsibilities as directed by the supervisor consistent with rank and position.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, MIS or a closely related field is required; or an Associate Degree plus 4 years of significant programming and analysis experience is required; or an Oracle Developer Certified Professional credential plus 8 years of related programming and analysis experience is required.

A minimum of 1 year of Oracle development experience using Oracle PL/ SQL is required.

Application programming experience in a Red Hat Linux environment, with Ellucian Banner software (Advancement, Finance, Financial Aid, Student, Human Resources or Operational Data Store) is preferred.

Experience with Ellucians Ethos platform, Tableau, and IBMs Cognos is preferred.

Experience with Linux shell scripting, git, Groovy, Java, Pro-C, HTML , SQL Server and MS Excel is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

Banner software (Advancement, Finance, Financial Aid, Student, Human Resources or Operational Data Store) is preferred.

Experience with Ellucians Ethos platform, Tableau, and IBMs Cognos is preferred.

Experience with Linux shell scripting, git, Groovy, Java, Pro-C, HTML , SQL Server and MS Excel is preferred.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus.
