What you'll do
The Coordinator, Race,Equity andInclusion (REI)willsupport the planning, implementation, and performance measurement of specific short- and long-term projects that (1) identify and address racial disparities and other inequities; and (2) imbed equity, diversity and inclusion principles and values inVera'spolicies, programs and practices. This work includes, but is not limited to, work in partnership withall centers and business unitsto develop plans and processes related to REI to ensure alignment for maximum results.
The Coordinator reports tothe Director, Race,Equity andInclusion.
Primary Responsibilities:Provide timely and efficient administrative support to the Director including managing calendars, meeting scheduling, maintenance of OneDrive and other file systems, preparation of materials, processing invoices, notetaking and helping to manage priorities.Supports Directorto provide overall direction and management of REI in order to identify goals, outcomes and strategies that prioritize the use ofracial equityframeworksto advance and support equity, diversity, andinclusion withinVeraand withVera partners.Supports staff in applying an equity lens in designing, implementing and evaluating programs to achieve fair and equitable outcomes.Provide support for Vera's affinity and work groups which could include helping to identify resources needed and planning events.Planning logistics for internal and external meetings and events.Coordinate travel plans for Director and staff of Vera's centers and business units.Develop, document, implement and administer REI systems, procedures and reports.Communicate REI efforts with the Institute and Vera's external stakeholders by drafting and sending written communication and managing content for the Intranet.Work directly with Legal Department to manage contracts, secure partnerships with external vendors, particularly local vendors, women of color led businesses, vendors led by or that hire people who are formerly incarcerated people, and/or vendors that center race equity.Other duties as assigned.
What qualifications do you need?Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience, and 3-5 years of experience in office or project administration.Passion for racial justice, social equity, and an understanding of systemic and institutional racial bias.Demonstrated ability to take initiative to organize, prioritize and follow through on work assignments.Demonstrated accuracy and efficiency in typing, including the ability to prepare documents in a professional and competent manner with minimal editorial changes required prior to distribution.Exceptional organizational skills/attention to detail and outstanding project management skills; ability to handle and prioritize multiple time-sensitive projects.Ability to create and edit charts, tables, graphs and presentations, using PowerPoint, Word and Excel software with minimal assistance.Demonstrated knowledge of administrative filing systems and project administration techniques.Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in a team environment and to work efficiently on an independent basis.Commitment to Vera's mission and social justice
